Paul Koeleman (1955) is a photographer and graphic designer who lives and works in
Amsterdam’s bustling Nieuwmarkt area. Heading his own design studio STPK for
over 25 years he has worked as a graphic designer and art director for cultural institutions,
publishers and semi-private corporations in the fields of corporate identities, posters,
brochures and typography. In the late eighties and early nineties his talent has led him
to New York, working for clients such as Bloomingdale’s, Parsons Dance Company and
the Rennert language institute. The prestigious commission to work for the world-renowned
Dutch Nationale Ballet, prompted his return to the Netherlands.
A long-standing interest in photography resulted in Koeleman more and more choosing to
shoot his own images for use in his graphic design work. Over the last five years this has
developed into a complete and independent endeavour and his autonomous art work has
been shown in two highly successful exhibitions: Anonymous Amsterdammers in 2007 and
Running into people’s consciousness in 2008 at Amsterdam’s METIS Gallery.
Next to his continued desire to push the limits of graphic design for his varied costumer base,
Paul Koeleman is available for commercial and personal photography.
